He is a sheprador (lab + shepherd) and his formal name is Titus. We got him from a rescue shelter here in the DFW area. We had the opportunity to pick him out of his whole litter and the lucky little guy got to come home with us! He is going to be a big guy, already weighing in at 25lbs at 13 weeks old.
We've had him for 5 weeks now and it was been a very, very active 5 weeks.
Timeline of Titus' life...because I know you want in on every detail.
Dec. 30th- Pick him up! Go spend way more than we thought possible on everything our new puppy "needs."
Dec. 30th- First bath. Not a fan.
These 2 pictures are very deceiving.
We had to santize our house, bleach all his toys and bedding, and wash anythig his mouth had come in contact with. Let me remind you, Titus is a large, active puppy. His mouth has touched everything. Everything! Again, awesome.
This is at the vet. Poor guy has a cone around his neck. He was so sad that his voice was hoarse from whining. : (
Jan. 23rd- Titus comes HOME! Yay!
Jan. 23rd- 27th- Hell week for Titus. 5 pills a day, perscrition dog food, and no running.
Now- Normal life! I guess.
A puppy is WAY more work than we ever dreamed
People, he has to be taken out at 3am & 5 am every.single.night. Shoot me. He also chews on everything. You won't find me wearing a cute purple dress because Titus chewed a hole in it--while it was HANGING IN MY CLOSET. How is that even possible? You won't find toilet paper on a toilet paper roll around our house. Titus will destroy it. You won't find Brad wearing his favorite wind (hilarious that he has favorite wind pants, love him) pants. Titus ripped a hole in those. You won't find me wearing a scarf from India given to me by our friend who is missionary there. Titus chewed a hole in that. Oh well. Atleast thats all just stuff and he hasn't chewed a person to death? He did kill a bird though...whoops.
Its not all bad. I mean, the dog already knows how to sit! He is getting better at walking on a leash everyday and has gone 9 days (knock on wood) without any accidents in the house. He will let kids pet him, pull on his tail, and open and shut his eyes without even moving. We have kids that knock on our door and ask "can Titus come out and play?" How cute is that?
I mean really, its not all that terrible. These times are pretty good...
He wasn't allowed on the couch before he got sick. Then when he came home we wanted to let him get up there and cuddle with his. He hasn't left since.
And last but not least, our attempt at a family picture at the park today....
Ha! Atleast Brad looks good?
I will leave you with a list of our proudest moments with Titus:
1. When he humped the head of a full grown female lab at the park.
2. When he jumped into a fountain at a park in Tulsa right before we were about to get on the road home. It was 40 degress out. Good news- he can swim!
3. When he ran 2 miles!
4. When he slept through the entire night (this has happened once...but thats better than none, right?)
All in all, we LOVE him!
